El Gato Negro's little sister, El Gatito, opens at MediaCity on 6 November
Spanish small plates, giant focaccias and a lunch deal for £10.

The team behind El Gato Negro opens a smaller spin-off, El Gatito, at MediaCityUK on Friday 6 November, Manchester Evening News reports. It is on the plaza and has around 70 seats inside, with more tables outside.
The look: blue velvet booths and Spanish artwork on the walls.
The food: lunch runs Monday to Friday, 11am to 4pm, built around giant loaded focaccias, including an Iberico Club with serrano, salchichon, chorizo, manchego, peppers, tomato and salsa verde. A focaccia lunch meal deal is £10. Small plates are on all day, such as jamon Iberico croquetas with jamon butter at £6 and payoyo croquetas with olive tapenade at £6.
How it differs: it is more casual than King Street, aimed at daytime workers and visitors, with sharing plates for after work or a Lowry night out.
What is next: owner Simon Shaw says that if it goes well, the format could move to other places.
Handy if you work nearby and want a proper lunch.
