Bunso opens in Kentish Town: bakery by day, pizza by night
Omar Shah's Maginhawa Group has launched a Filipino-influenced all-day spot on Hawley Road, with the pizzeria live from 13 October and the bakery from the 20th.

Bunso has opened at 1A Hawley Road in Kentish Town, The Upcoming reports. The name means "youngest child" in Filipino. It comes from restaurateur Omar Shah's Maginhawa Group, which also runs Mamasons, Guanabana and Belly.
Evenings started first: the pizzeria and listening bar opened on 13 October. The daytime bakery follows on Tuesday 20 October. The site is closed on Mondays.
Hours - Bakery: Tuesday to Friday 8.30am–4pm; weekends 9.30am–4pm - Pizzeria: Tuesday to Saturday 5pm–10pm; Sunday 4pm–9.30pm
Daytime pastries lean Filipino-meets-laminated: think a mango and sticky rice Danish, a pandan cream cruffin, banana turon pain Suisse and an adobo mushroom puff. Evenings centre on pizza (mushroom adobo, longanisa with calamansi hot honey) plus a short pasta list and natural-leaning wines. Coffee is from Camden Roastery.
Shah designed the room with Studio Jayga: stainless steel, concrete and walnut, an open kitchen behind the shopfront, and a hi-fi turntable wall. If you want Filipino flavours without a formal tasting menu, Hawley Road now has a day-to-night option.
