From part-time job to running the pub: how The Snipe in Audenshaw rebuilt its name
The pub lost its lease in 2021 over drugs and crime. Four years after it reopened, its licensee is a Pub Aid Community Hero finalist.

The Snipe on Manchester Road in Audenshaw lost its lease in 2021 after long-running drugs and crime problems, the Manchester Evening News reports. Robinsons reopened it, and Kate Mudriczki has run it for the last four years.
How she got there After college, Kate went on a management programme with Revolution Vodka bars, which she rates as the best training you'll get in any pub. She later picked up part-time work at The Snipe, and when the lease came up, her parents asked why she didn't go for it. She did, and Robinsons accepted her.
What turned it round When she moved in, she says, it was like a ghost town and people were frightened to come in. What changed it: - Reasons to visit all week: live music, quizzes, karaoke and open mic nights, plus one-offs like a pie and bingo night and family fun days - Sunday roasts made with local produce, and Guinness Yorkshire puddings - Real community use: hosting food banks, Christmas toy appeals, church meetings and groups such as Andy's Man Club
Kate is now a finalist in the Pub Aid Community Hero awards, the only one from a pub in Greater Manchester.
So what for your shift A bad reputation gets fixed one regular at a time. Every event is a chance for your team to make someone feel welcome enough to come back.
