Newcastle's big New Year's Eve party is coming back for a second year, and tickets are on sale now, Get into Newcastle reports.

Howaymanay turns the Quayside into a ticket-only party on Thursday 31 December, with two stages of live music, roaming performers, street entertainment, bars and food, all building up to fireworks over the Tyne at midnight.

The practical bits - When: 8.30pm to 12.15am - How much: £8 plus booking fee, through TicketTailor - Who: ages eight and over, with under-16s accompanied by an adult - Getting in: three entrances, at Sandhill/Guildhall, King Street and East Quayside/Millennium Bridge. You have to use the one you pick when you book

Got kids who won't make midnight? There's a free family fireworks display at 6pm, so you get the bangs and bedtime still happens.

The first Howaymanay sold out in mid-December, and capacity is limited again, so don't leave it until your Christmas shopping. It's run by Newcastle City Council and NE1 as part of the city's Christmas programme.

Worth booking? £8 for live music and fireworks on the river is a good deal for New Year's Eve. Sort your group, pick your entrance and book early.
