Deansgate has a new late-night bar on the way. Luella's opens on Friday 9 October at 2-10 St Mary's Street, where Côte Brasserie used to be, Manchester Wire reports.

The look is Paris after dark. Designer Ken Caroll, whose work includes San Carlo, Neighbourhood and Victors, has gone for a deep red palette with chandeliers, bold wallpaper, red marble and Ralph Lauren wall lamps, plus artwork from local designers.

What's on - Music: local and international DJs playing house with Afro and techno influences, and R&B, with guest DJs on key dates - Cocktails: the Margot (agave blanco, burned lime, red chilli, blue agave and Tajín) and the Luella (Japanese yuzu, white strawberry, wild woodland fraise, watermelon essence and Madagascar vanilla) - Food: bar snacks - Room: 70 seated, up to 250 standing

It's owned by Sam Gough and Amar Ali, who say they want it to feel special from the moment you walk in, for an early drink or a late one.

When to go: Fridays from 5pm and Saturdays from 3pm, until late. Go early for a seat and a cocktail, or late for the DJs.
