Kenny Atkinson's Michelin-starred restaurant goes relaxed downstairs every Sunday this autumn, with a DJ, candlelight and cocktails.

Sunday nights just got a reason to stay out. Every Sunday this autumn, from 4pm to 9.30pm, House of Tides on the Quayside swaps its fine dining for something much looser downstairs, called After Hours, Highlife North reports.

What you get

  • Steak frites for £30 a head, with sauce verte, a mustard-dressed house salad with hazelnuts and herbs, and a baked baguette. The steak and chips come in two servings.
  • Snacks on the side, such as chicken liver parfait, oeufs rémoulade with anchovies, and a smoked cheddar gougère.
  • Desserts like affogato, sorbet, a cheeseboard, or an Eton mess made to share.
  • A playful cocktail list, including an Alpine Negroni made with Hepple gin and a house strawberry vermouth, plus wine by the glass or bottle.

There's a DJ all evening, candlelight and the old brick and cast-iron pillars of the downstairs room. Chef-owner Kenny Atkinson has described it as giving his team the freedom to do something informal and fun, very different from the tasting menu upstairs.

Who it's for: a date, or a table of ten. With one set dish, nobody spends twenty minutes on the menu. Book through House of Tides; snacks and drinks are extra.
