Dust off the lederhosen. Oktoberfest Newcastle is back in Times Square for its seventh year, and this time every date has both an afternoon and an evening session, so fewer people miss out on what usually sells out, NE1's Get into Newcastle reports.

The details

  • Dates: Saturdays 10, 17 and 24 October
  • Sessions: 12pm to 5.30pm, and 6pm to 11pm
  • Where: Times Square, turned into a 2,000-capacity bierhaus with long benches and traditional tablecloths
  • What's on: German beers and lagers in steins, frankfurters, bratwurst, currywurst and pretzels, and oompah bands

German brewer Brinkof is partnering on the event for the second year. Organisers EVNT Inspirations, who also run Newcastle's Christmas Village and Paddy Fest, call it the biggest event of its kind in the North East.

Dirndls and lederhosen are very much encouraged.

Plan it: these sessions sell out, so book a slot before you book anything else. If you're working the evening, the afternoon session finishes at 5.30pm.
