Lenny's has opened its first permanent pizzeria at 24 Henrietta Street, Covent Garden. Founder Max Lewis started it in 2024 as a residency inside the Bedford Tavern in Finsbury Park, after time in Connecticut learning the style. Now he has a proper home, run in partnership with MJMK Restaurants, the group behind Casa do Frango and AngloThai.

What's different: New Haven pizza, known locally as apizza, bakes longer and hotter than Neapolitan. You get a charred, chewy crust with more tomato and less cheese. The style goes back to Frank Pepe's in New Haven in 1925.

What to order - Tomato pie: sauce, garlic and pecorino, no mozzarella. - The Lenny: half tomato, garlic and pecorino, half classic mozzarella, so you get both.

Where: 24 Henrietta Street, London WC2E 8ND. Opened on 27 October. Booking is open now.
