A Christmas pop-up bar is taking over the former Leila Lily's on Grey Street in Newcastle, and it opens on 12 November, the same night the city's Christmas lights are switched on, ChronicleLive reports.

What's inside: a green and gold festive setup with two spaces. There's a main bar, plus a Christmas movie room showing films such as Home Alone, Love Actually and The Grinch with subtitles instead of sound, and a free mini bag of popcorn.

The drinks - Cocktails inspired by festive films and desserts at £9 each, with two for £15 from 5pm to 7pm. Think a strawberry martini nodding to Love Actually and a tequila drink named after Home Alone. - Classic cocktails £1 cheaper than the festive list. - A self-service Guinness machine, plus beer, cider and spirits. - £1 from every hot chocolate and Aperol Spritz goes to Children's Cancer North.

When to go: Thursday to Sunday through November, then seven days a week from noon in December. There's live music on the opening weekend, with DJ sets in December. It closes for good at 6pm on Christmas Eve, so it's one for the work do or a lights-night warm-up rather than a last-minute plan.
