A West Road favourite is the North East's best place for a curry

Jaipur Exclusive Indian Restaurant in Denton Burn has been voted the best place for a curry in the North East, ChronicleLive reports. Readers nominated a shortlist of ten and then voted for a winner over a week.

A landslide Jaipur, on Newcastle's West Road, won 8,102 votes in the final round. That's 57.1% of more than 14,000 cast.

The rest of the top five - La Qila, Cramlington: 2,326 votes - Lal Khazana, Shilbottle: 2,260 votes - Soho Tavern, Gateshead: 1,070 votes - Fawdon Tandoori: 174 votes
