IBILE, a West African kitchen that began as family pop-ups, opens a three-month residency at Freight Island on Saturday 24 October, Taste of Manchester reports.

Who's behind it Founder Tolu Asemota is a first-generation Irish-Nigerian who got into hospitality working front of house in restaurants on the US West Coast. IBILE means "traditional" in Yoruba. Since the pop-up days it has catered for festivals including Big Grill.

What to order The Manchester menu is by Nigerian-British chef Soliat Bada: - Prawn akara: black bean fritters with prawns in seafood bisque - Beef suya: steak with suya spice, onions and garlic - Jollof rice

Don't leave it too late It's a residency, so the kitchen is only here for three months. There's a programme of supper clubs and collaborations planned through October and November too, with details still to come.
