The Savoy opens a wine bar where half the list comes by the glass

Beaufort Wine Bar pours from a 250-bottle list spanning 1975 to 2025, with jamón carved at the table and live music late into the night.

The Savoy has opened a new wine bar on its ground floor, Time Out reports. The Beaufort Wine Bar has more than 250 wines from 18 countries, and over half the list is available by the glass.

The clever bit The by-the-glass wines are poured with Coravin, a gadget that draws wine out through the cork without opening the bottle. That means you can try a glass of something rare or old without paying for the whole bottle.

What's on the list - Vintages from 1975 right up to 2025 - First Growth Bordeaux, Grand Cru Burgundy and mature Champagne - Wine cocktails built on grape-based spirits such as Pisco, Cognac and Grappa

Food and atmosphere Plates are made for sharing. A custom flywheel slicer trolley comes to the table to carve jamón Ibérico and cured meats, and there's a selection of British cheese. Expect live music and DJ sets. Head sommelier Romain Audrerie, who worked on the opening of Chiltern Firehouse, will help you choose.

When to go Tuesday to Saturday, 5pm to midnight, at The Savoy on the Strand. A good one for a pre-theatre glass or a late finish.
