Chef Andrew Sheridan is bringing a new all-day restaurant to Manchester city centre. Counter opens on Monday 9 November in the Island Building, just off John Dalton Street, The Caterer reports.

What to expect - Around 60 seats inside, plus a chef's counter for four or five people right by the kitchen - A 20-seat terrace out on the pavement - Dry-ageing cabinets for meat and fish - A full rotisserie, which will be the star of Sunday lunch

One early menu reveal: satay spatchcock chicken with peanut satay, fermented chilli, coconut, burnt lime and crispy shallots. Sheridan says the cooking takes the best flavours from around the world rather than sticking to one cuisine.

He told Propel he wanted the place to reflect the city: "Manchester is creative, loud and full of character."

Who's behind it Sheridan runs Open Restaurant Group with Sam and Emma Morgan. Counter is their ninth restaurant and their second in Greater Manchester, after Arcadian in Didsbury opened last month in the former Hispi.

If you like a seat at the pass, the chef's counter is the one to aim for. Keep an eye on Counter's socials for booking details.
