Blue Lagoon brings Scottish fish and chips to Grainger Street
The 96-seat chippy opens at noon on Friday 16 October in the old Dicksons flagship, with pizza crunch, battered haggis and a maritime interior.

Scottish fish-and-chip chain Blue Lagoon is opening its first Newcastle restaurant on Grainger Street on Friday 16 October, Chronicle Live reports. Doors open at noon in the former flagship shop of North East sandwich favourite Dicksons, which left the street last year.
The room seats about 96 and leans hard into a maritime look, with fish murals and pirate-ship style gangways visible in a sneak-peek video shared on the brand's Instagram.
On the menu - Pizza crunch (deep-fried pizza) and chips - Deep-fried black pudding and chips - Battered haggis and battered Mars bar, the Scottish chippy classics - Plus the usual fish and chips brief
Justin Bieber once ordered battered haggis and Irn Bru at a Blue Lagoon north of the border, which is part of why the arrival has drawn attention on socials. Expect queues if Mother Hubbard's August opening in the city is anything to go by.
If you want a proper Scottish chippy night in town, Grainger Street is the place from Friday lunchtime.
