The Sandpiper in Cullercoats throws a goodbye party on Saturday 10 October before it closes
The pub's owners were given six months when they took it on. They lasted five and a half years.

The Sandpiper in Cullercoats is closing for good this weekend, and it's going out with a party, Chronicle Live reports.
The owners announced the news on social media, thanking regulars and their staff. They said the end had come sooner than expected but wasn't a surprise: when they took the pub on, they were told it might only last six months.

The Farringdon Road site has been earmarked for redevelopment for a while. Earlier plans for flats were turned down by North Tyneside Council in 2023, and application documents show a Tesco is now planned on roughly half of the current pub.
