The Hustler is coming back - Newcastle's snooker club finds a new home at Haymarket
The pool and snooker club that closed in April after almost 50 years will reopen in the former Labour Club building before the end of 2026.

Get the cue back out of the loft. The Hustler, the pool and snooker club that has been part of Newcastle city centre for nearly half a century, is set to reopen before the end of 2026, ChronicleLive reports.
The club closed earlier this year ahead of the planned demolition of Hadrian House. Now it has a new home: the former Newcastle Labour Club building next to Haymarket Metro, which shut earlier this year after a rent dispute. The premises licence and the council's planning permission are both through.
Owners Mark and Jo Sewell run the club Mark's parents started nearly 50 years ago, originally on Northumberland Street. Mark says the move feels like coming home, that regulars feel safe in the club, and that the aim is to keep the same friendly atmosphere. He also says The Hustler will be in Newcastle for the next 20 years.
What we know so far: pool and snooker, right by Haymarket Metro, open before the year is out. We don't have an opening date or prices yet, so follow the club's own pages for the first night.
