WHP Takes a Breather - Manchester's mega club series goes small in 2027

After its 20th season, The Warehouse Project is scaling right back next year. And no, it's not going back to Store Street.

Big news for anyone who's ever lost a mate at Depot Mayfield. The Warehouse Project will take a fallow year in 2027, Manchester's Finest reports. Some nights will still happen, just a lot fewer of them, once this year's 20th anniversary season wraps up.

Founders Sam Kandel and Rich McGinnis describe it as a short breather after two decades of parties. WHP started in 2006 at the old Boddingtons Brewery in Strangeways, moved under Piccadilly station to Store Street in 2007, spent 2012 and 2013 at Victoria Warehouse, went back to Store Street until 2018, then took over Depot Mayfield in 2019. They've also confirmed it isn't going back to Store Street, so you can stop asking.

This year's anniversary season is still running, with Overmono, The Streets, Tiësto, Defected and Glitterbox and more, plus a dedicated 20 Years of The Warehouse Project night in November. There's no detail yet on what the smaller 2027 programme will look like.

So what for hospo people? In Manchester, a WHP season means pre-drinks, late-night food, hotel stays and a lot of event shifts. A quieter year will be felt well beyond the dancefloor. If you work nights in the city, make the most of this season and keep your ear to the ground for whatever fills the gap in 2027.
