Hotel Gotham turns Newcastle's old police station into suites and a museum
Thirty new rooms open on Pilgrim Street on 12 November, with courtroom event spaces, former cells and a museum open on selected days.

A year after it arrived on Pilgrim Street, Hotel Gotham Newcastle is opening its second phase next door in the former police station, ChronicleLive reports.
What's new - 30 bedrooms, including eight suites. - Three event spaces in the building's original courtrooms. - Rooms with gallery seating from Courtroom One turned into feature walls. - Three former holding cells kept with their glazed tiled walls, and the Judge's Chambers with original panelling.
The museum: on selected days, the ground floor opens to the public with the old gun-safe door, the cell-corridor gate, period photos and the story of Newcastle's mounted police, whose horses were once stabled on site.
When: opens 12 November, the same night as the city's Christmas lights switch-on.
Go if: you fancy a night away with a story, or want a look round the museum before drinks in the hotel bar.
