The Belfry opens a paid Chef Academy from commis to Level 4
The resort near Birmingham has four funded apprenticeship routes with weekly paid training hours, and applications are open now.

Working in a kitchen and want a proper route up? The Belfry Hotel & Resort has launched The Chef Academy, a fully funded programme run with training provider HIT Training, Delegate Wranglers reports.
Four routes in - Level 2 Commis or Production Chef: for new starters and kitchen assistants building core cooking skills. - Level 3 Chef: for chefs ready to run a section and mentor juniors. - Level 3 Pastry Chef: for those specialising in pastry and desserts. - Level 4 Chef: for experienced chefs heading towards sous or head chef.
How it works: on-the-job experience plus workshops and self-study, with paid hours set aside every week for training. Masterclasses run from sustainability to kitchen budgeting, and Level 3 adds sugar work and chocolate.
The kitchen you would join: The Belfry serves more than 2,000 guests a day and over 10,000 Christmas party covers a year, with the Ryder Restaurant doing up to 1,800 covers a day. Robert Bates, newly promoted to culinary director, designed the academy, and the resort is also hiring a new resort head chef.
How to apply: through the careers page on The Belfry's website, or by emailing its people team.
Try this on your next shift: before you apply anywhere, write down which section you can run solo and which you can't yet. That honest list tells you which level to go for.
