The Derby in South Shields is back after a £322,000 makeover
New look, new darts set-up and a Halloween fancy dress party to mark the reopening of the Prince Edward Road local.

Community pub The Derby on Prince Edward Road has reopened after a £322,000 refurbishment, ChronicleLive reports.
What's new: a full redecoration with new furniture, a new dartboard set-up for league nights, new sound and screens for sport, and new outdoor seating and signage.
The weekend: the relaunch party ran on Thursday with a fizz reception and free cocktail tasting. Next up: disco and karaoke from 7.30pm on Friday, and an adults' fancy dress Halloween party on Saturday.
The pub is home to a darts team, four pool teams and a football team, and Gary Thorius, who has run it for 15 years, stays at the helm. He says he wants people to come and see the changes for themselves, with plenty of events lined up to celebrate.
Where: The Derby, Prince Edward Road, South Shields.
