Newcastle gets two Ivys at once: a brasserie downstairs and The Ivy Asia upstairs
Both open in the old Lloyds bank building on Grey Street before the end of the year.

The Ivy is finally coming to Newcastle, and it's bringing two restaurants, ChronicleLive reports. Both are due to open on Grey Street before the end of 2026, inside the Grade II listed building best known as the old Lloyds bank.
What's going in - The Ivy Newcastle Brasserie, downstairs: all-day dining, from breakfast and brunch through to classic dishes, seasonal menus and dinner - The Ivy Asia, upstairs: Asian-inspired dishes and sushi in a glammed-up room
Third time lucky The group first planned a three-floor Newcastle restaurant six years ago, in the Grey Street building that now houses End Clothing, but the pandemic stopped it. ChronicleLive reported early in 2025 that it was considering the city again, and the Lloyds building was confirmed in the summer.
Until now the nearest Ivy restaurants were in York, Harrogate and Leeds. The Ivy Collection has 47 cafés and brasseries across the UK and Ireland, including Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Birmingham.
Worth knowing: two openings under one roof on Grey Street adds a big name to the city's special-occasion choice in time for Christmas. Watch for booking dates.
