Restaurant Biedronka is now open at The Farmhouse in the grounds of South Causey Inn, looking out over Beamish Valley in County Durham, Chronicle Live reports. "Biedronka" means ladybird in Polish.

Chef-owner Marek Dziedzic, who cooked at Hjem in the same building before that residency ended, is serving a seasonal tasting menu built on Polish comfort food and British produce.

What to book - Dinner Wednesday to Saturday, with lunch at weekends - Choose four courses from £65 up to seven courses (higher tiers also available) - Dishes flagged so far include pierogi ruskie with brown butter and breadcrumbs, house pickles with smalec on bread, Polish sausages, brill with Shetland mussels, and a baked chocolate soufflé with sour cream ice cream

It's a countryside drive rather than a city-centre hop, and the room is candle-lit with views across the valley.

Where: The Farmhouse, South Causey Inn, near Stanley, County Durham. When: open from 1 October.
