Pardeh brings Iranian-inspired cooking to Cambridge Heath this autumn
Chef Yma Apa, once of Tehran Berlin and The Drunken Butler, returns to London at a new 42-seat restaurant on The Oval.

A new Iranian-inspired restaurant is on its way to East London. Pardeh will open this autumn on The Oval, Cambridge Heath, in the space that used to be the Waterhouse Project, Restaurant Online reports.
Who's behind it - Founders Sahar Gilabadi and her husband Sam Butler. It's Sahar's first restaurant, after years designing theatre sets - Tehran-born chef Yma Apa leading the kitchen as exec chef and creative director. Londoners may know his cooking from his old Clerkenwell restaurants, Tehran Berlin and The Drunken Butler
What to expect Iranian cooking with an East London twist. Rather than trying to serve one definitive version of Iranian food, the menu draws on Yma's own memories, influences and years cooking across Europe. It's a small room too, with 42 seats.
The name means "curtain" in Farsi, and is also the word for a fret on a musical instrument. The team says it's all about rhythm, anticipation and a gradual reveal, which suggests a menu that unfolds as the evening goes on.
Where: The Oval, Cambridge Heath, E2. When: opening this autumn, date to be confirmed. We'll share it when we have it.
