A Manchester server ended up in A&E after a walkout: why your team should never chase
Noodle Alley in Chinatown says a young staff member was hurt trying to recover an unpaid bill. Here's how to brief your shift so a walkout stays a lost bill and nothing more.

Owners of Noodle Alley on Faulkner Street in Manchester's Chinatown say a young member of staff was assaulted and taken to A&E after a group tried to leave without paying, the Manchester Evening News reports.
The incident happened just after 6pm on Sunday 27 September. CCTV shared by the restaurant shows the staff member chasing three customers up the stairs. Greater Manchester Police say they were told of an assault and of a pair leaving without paying, and have issued a picture of a man they'd like to speak to. No arrests have been made.
On your shift: what to brief your team - Nobody chases. No following outside and no blocking a door. An unpaid bill is never worth someone getting hurt. - Watch, don't confront. Note what people looked like, how many there were, the time and which way they went. - Tell the manager on duty straight away, and make sure the CCTV is saved before it records over. - Report it. Call 999 if anyone is hurt or in danger, otherwise 101, and get a crime reference number. - Look after the person involved. Check they're OK, let them take a break and write it up in the incident log while it's fresh.
Before it happens Keep an eye on tables nearest the door or stairs, offer the bill when a table starts putting coats on.
