Spud Life - Kerridge's Chelsea pub goes bottomless on roasties
Unlimited roast potatoes every Sunday in November. Cancel your plans.

Possibly the most important news of the autumn, and frankly bloody genius. Tom Kerridge's Chelsea pub, the Chalk Freehouse, is doing bottomless roast potatoes every Sunday from 1 to 29 November, The Morning Advertiser reports.
Here's how it works. It's £9 for a portion of Maris Piper roasties with unlimited top-ups, as long as you order a main as well. Up to four people can share one never-ending bowl, so no, you can't bring the whole five-a-side team on one order. The mains are serious too, including 30-day dry-aged ribeye, each roast with its own stuffed Yorkshire pudding.
Head chef Tom De Keyser says Sunday bookings have shot up now the weather's turned, and that the spud deal is partly a laugh and partly a way to bring people in. The kitchen cooks mountains of them anyway, he says, so "why not make them bottomless?" If November goes well, it could become a permanent thing.
So what for hospo people? If you're on the pass at the Chalk in November, good luck to you and your roasting trays. For everyone else, it's a smart, cheap-to-run hook that gets people talking. Pinch the idea for your own Sunday service. Your head chef might hate you for it, though.
