Back From the Brew-Dead - Camden Road Arms reopens after its refurb

The Victorian boozer, shut in March when its operator was sold, is back with new management and a fresh lick of paint.

Camden's got its local back. The Camden Road Arms, the Victorian pub opposite Camden Road Overground station, reopened on 2 October after a big refurb and under new management, Time Out London reports.

Quick history. It used to be run by BrewDog, and back in March it was one of 38 venues that shut when the pub business was sold, with 484 staff made redundant. Since then Star Pubs, which owns the freehold, has done it up. Local paper Ham&High reported the refurb includes a sports and games area, a new dining space, a refitted kitchen and new signage.

Inside holds 60, and the popular outdoor seating is staying, with room for 24. No food or drinks menu has been released yet, so it's a mystery pint for now. Opening hours are noon to 11pm Sunday to Thursday and noon to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. The new team has invited people to pop in and say hello.

So what for hospo people? That 484 figure still stings. But every reopened pub means a new team, new shifts and new regulars to win over. If you're in north London and looking for work, a freshly refurbished pub with a new kitchen is worth a nosy.
